Columbia Crest Gewurztraminer 2002 (PB)

I intentionally served this too cold. Why you ask? Because it is almost April and we still have lots of snow on the ground. And Gewurztraminer tastes like Summer to me! So–I stuck this bottle in the snow bank next to my porch to get good and cold like I like it in the heat of summer. Today in Maine it is sunny, and warm (45 degrees) and I want summer!

So at this temp the bouquet is resultantly closed but still it is fresh and fruity with gobs of peaches and citrusy fruit. It has a creamy texture but could use a bit more acid; still, all by itself, this is nothing but pure, sweet, quaffing delight–it’s Summer! For around $7, that’s a cheap vacation! Raise a glass and toast the departure of winter–for me, please!
