Quick Swirl: Cellar #8 Merlot 2001 (PB)

This is actually produced by the Asti Winery in N. Sonoma and it was a gift from my daughter so I don’t know the price but I believe it sells for around $12. There is a hint of eucalyptus on opening which I love. There is a rich but light berry nose with underlying chocolate tones though a bit austere. It is a bit “hot” but flavorful and the tannic structure is a bit “in your face.” In spite of it all, I still liked it! And that’s the bottom line to any wine. Now raise a glass!
