Quick Swirl: Yalumba Viognier 2002 (Revised) (PB)

This Australian white with the funny name pronounced Vee-oh-nyay is a pretty and light golden with a lovely sweet and honeyed bouquet reminiscent of a rich dessert wine though this is not a dessert wine! In the mouth it is not sweet and has a solid acid base that will make it nice with food. The flavors are quite subdued though and fairly dead. *This may be a wine that has simply peaked which would be my guess. (*After subsequent review, the wine had in fact peaked and was on its way out. How do I know? Because only 24 hours later, stored in the refrigerator with a vaccuum stopper, the wine was vinegar.) Further review is pointless except to say that most of these "everyday" wines are meant to be consumed young!
