Beviamo Moscato D’Asti n.v wine review by (PB)

Every now and then you taste a wine from a region or vintner that is so bad, it taints your view of any wine of similar origins. You have to tell yourself–“Try again; it was just a bad wine!”

Moscato D’Asti’s are typically fun wines with plenty of spritz on the palate and a fruity sweetness that simply scintillates your senses. This wine is NOT such a wine. I bought it at Sam’s Club for $14–a painful acknowledgment–and had it tonight as my wife returned from being gone for a week; a cause for celebration! It comes in a uniquely shaped blue bottle, had a cork that was the most difficult cork to remove of any wine I have had in 30 years, and was absolutely...yucky.

On opening, the bouquet was quite nice full of sweet fruity pineapple, lychee and a touch of apricot. If you only smelled the wine, you’d be ahead of the game.

In the mouth though this wine is sickeningly sweet. If you ever wondered what “cloying” meant, this is it.

The wine is dull, way too sweet, and no structure to carry any of the nice flavors that are there. If you have read the term “plonk” used to describe poorly made wine, this again, is a great example. Please don’t raise a glass of this.

I just bought this wine at Sams Club and I love it. For me the bottle opened easy and it has a great taste. Oh and I paid eleven something for it.
I'm glad I bought four bottles.

I also bought a bottle at Sam's Club ($13). The cork was extremely hard to remove (had to cut it out in pieces). The bouquet was fruity with definite lime overtones and sweet like many dessert wines. The taste was very enjoyable. The initial taste was light and fruity and the aftertaste was a very enjoyable apricot. Not bad for an improptu wine and cheese party.

If you enjoy a sweet wine, this is the winner. This Moscato D'Asti has a gentle "fizz", not a champaign, but enough to tease the taste buds. You will not like it if you like dry wines. It is a fantastic Moscato.

I also purchased this bottle at Sam's club for about $12. The cork broke a cork screw and the bottle ended up breaking trying to pull the cork out! However, the taste is superb! I like sweet wines (Martini and Rossi Asti Spumante was my favorite ), yet this one is just as sweet with less fizz, I personally have a new favorite. I am obviously not an expert, they like more aging and dryness, however, to me, this was very good. My wife likes reds and has a huge assortment of expensive red wines, of which, I have yet to find one I like. She did enjoy this Moscato D'Asti. They need to do something about the cork, though.

I too bought some of this wine and loved it. Thank God for Sam's club, however they have run out and now I can't find it. I gave away many as Christmas gifts and everybody wants more. Anyone know where I can get more?
    Thanks,

I bought this at Sam's and my wife loved it. Our neighbor bought and loved it as well. I never had a problem opening it though. It is about $11 and I think I'll buy more since most of our friends like sweet tasting wines.

I bought a bottle based on taste, they has wine tasting at World Market and I found it to be a perfect sweetness. I don't usually drink but do like asti wines, Martini & Rossi is a favorite. This one is very fruity and sweet with no dryness. I prefer a wine not a desert!

I bought the wine at Sam's Club, also; I'm always in the market for a good Moscato . . . never had the D'Asti before, tho. I not only loved the wine . . . a bit on the sweet side, but so full bodied and flavorful that I didn't want to share it--but the cork came out like a champ--not a bit of a problem. I'd buy it again and again and again!

I love this wine! Wine drinkers as whole may turn up their noses, but I don't care, I'm the one who is drinking it. The taste is delightfully sweet, but doesn't have the cough-syrupesque aftertaste that I've found in some moscatos. The bottle is pretty, and the price is reasonable. As for cork removal, I've never had any trouble, so maybe those who have should get a new wine key. :)

I'm very interested in the comments about difficult corks to remove ...

I have bought a lot of wine at Sam's Club - always fine and consistent with the same wines bought elsewhere.

Last week I bought several bottles of Da Vinci Chianti 2005 - which I've bought at Sam's before with good results. This time, however, two bottles in a row had VERY difficult corks to remove in that they were hard to pull out (not that the corks fell apart) - and the wine was HIGHLY acidic and vinegary - unlike the Da Vinci Chiantis I'd had before.

    Anyone got any explanations?

    Thanks.

Like many I have also bought this wine at Sam's Club. I have done a search on the internet and no luck buying online. My sister first introduced me to this wine and I fell in love. lol. I just bought 3 bottles for 11.33 and looking forward to buying an entire case. No one else seems to carry it. We didn't have any problems with the cork, came out smoothly.

I am typically not a wine drinker (gives me headaches and don't like the dry taste). I tried the moscato at the suggestion of a waitress. Since I have tried three different brands and this is by far my favorite. I have not found the corks to be any more difficult than the other bottles I've had.

I tried this wine at a wine tasting, and from that point on its been my favorite, and I intend to purchase this wine on a frequent basis. i"ve never had any problems with the cork sticking to the bottle, but, who knows maybe now it will happen to be. again, this is my all time personnel favorite!!!!!

  17. This wine is wonderful. If you don't like SWEET things, this may not be for you. My cork came out with no problem as well. I paid $11 and some change @ Sam's as well here in Michigan. Going to the Sam's closer to my house, hoping they have it there, if not I will drive the 29 minutes to get a few more bottles from the one I got it from. Im not selfish, but It took me two nights for one bottle. visit the website on the back of the bottle: www.prestigewinegroup.com and see if the man on the site can help direct you where to purchase it at in your area http://www.prestigewinegroup.com/brands/beviamo.aspx
Click on the above and hopefully this will help

My husband and I love this wine! We buy it at Sam's Club for $11 and change. I haven't had any problems with the corks. I buy several bottles at a time, because Sam's does run out quickly. We love the sweetness of the wine and it goes very well with fruit and light desserts. I love the color and the look of the bottle. They also make great gifts(for people who appreciate a good sweet wine!)

I stumbled across a bottle of this wine last year. I purchased it ($12) as an afterthought for a Christmas party. “Oh the girls at the party would like a few of these, if not for the taste than for the unique bottle.” It was the hit of the evening. Now whenever I run across a case for less than $14 a bottle I buy one. This wine is great for a gift, a before-dinner drink, a picnic…whatever! I have even introduced my non-wine drinking friends to this easy drinking bottle; now they love hunting for special wines with me. If you like a sweet wine or you are just starting to drink wine, invest in a couple of bottles of Beviamo Moscato D’Asti.

It was a gift to us during our Christmas party. Boy when we opened it, it was definitely a winner. I could drink it everyday.
OMG!!! It took me a long time to find it. Lo and behold it was at Sam's Club. We sure found another favorite.
It just really depends if you like sweet wine. If you do, this is the wine for you.

I love sweet white wine; migraines keep me away from the reds. I purchased a bottle of the Beviamo Moscato D'Asti & I love it!! I actually found the wine cask blog page while trying to google for more info on the wine. My husband does not like sweet wine but he also enjoyed this one. The cork was fine, we use the "Rabbit" corkscrew which is great! I am headed back to Sam's Club for a few more bottles this weekend!

I often buy this one as an alternative to my favorite, Il Falchetto which is about the same in price. Il Falchetto is a much better quality of Moscato D'asti but not as frequently available. Beviamo is the closest and best alternative. I do enjoy it...

I LOVE this wine!!! It is by far the BEST tasting wine I've ever had- even the $500+ bottles had nothing on this (IMO). As for the cork- maybe a better wine key should be purchased. I have a very fancy one and it was the best investment (I say investment bc it was $150) I have made. Cheers!
