Saumur Champigny Val de Loire Reserve des Vignerons Saumur 2005 Wine Review (NW)
Tasting notes:
Perfumy nose of flowers and lemon-lime
Medium-bodied and richly textured on the palate
Finishes with more floral
Chenin Blanc comes alive in Saumur. This French region produces a wide variety of Chenin Blanc styles, and this one ends up in the middle. It's richly textured and shows some fruit, but also has a dry, floral quality.
Paired with herb-de-provence chicken, this wine showed its stuff. I haven't seen it where I live, but picked it up at a nice little wine shop in Black Mountain, North Carolina while visiting friends. I remember paying $11 and it's worth every penny! Raise a glass!
