Pear Valley Syrah (Pear Valley Vineyard) 2007 wine review by (PB)

Dark black cherry hue with nice black berry bouquet accompanied by dark chocolate and tar with a hint of pipe tobacco. (This smells more Cabernetish than some Cabernets)

Explosion of big fruit-bomb black berry, full bodied, rich, textured, still a little chewy, with smokey dark fruit finish that lingers a while.

This is a big wine for something gamey or strong like lamb.(we were going to have it with moose cube steaks but a last minute change to Porterhouse on the grill)

I paid $13 for this Paso Robles Syrah(reduced from $25 at the New Hampshire State Liquor Store) which for a single vineyard creation is unheard of. It doesn't have the complexity of a typical single vineyard wine but at $13 I wish I had bought 3 more bottles to lay down. This bad boy has a LOT of life in it and should improve for the next 5 years being presentable for the next 10 at least so raise a glass.
