Hedges Cellars CMS 2003 Wine Review (NW)

Fruity nose of berries
Juicy, flavorful palate
Finish of strawberries and cherries with a hint of chocolate; moderate tannins

I've enjoyed this wine several times in the past, and the 2003 bottling appears to be quite good. It's an interesting blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc from Washington State. In fact, the CMS name simply refers to these grapes. I paid $12 for the wine and feel that it's a good buy. Raise a glass!

It's O.K. There is something "not even $12.00" about this wine. Interestingly, it's also difficult to discern exactly what makes this wine less than exciting -- definitely mild tannins, fruity, not big in any way, "odd" (i.e., can't really nail it down) nose and finish. If you like big/medium bodied wines and/or are looking for a "bang for your buck" I wouldn't recommend.
