Marmocchio 2018 Umbria

Sturdy garnet hue with aromas of cherry bonbons, a touch of minerals, and steel.

Palate-  A relaxed presentation and first impression, with a puckery mid palate and bright fruit with gentle hints of savory, with a pleasant if subtle finish.

This Sangiovese from Umbria is quite different from those of Chianti. It is more sophisticated (and that is NOT a dig at Chianti) but show the originality of the effects of climate on grape profiles.

This was a gift and at around the $35 price point it is a nice treat which I am pairing with grilled Omaha Steaks. It will be perfect and I am looking forward to it after another hard trip to Boston for my wife's Stem Cell Transplant care. Raise a glass!
