Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 2003 Wine Review (NW)

Tasting notes:

Abundant aromas of dried apricot, honey, and spice on the nose

Full bodied and richly textured on the palate

Rich, layered finish with lots of spice on top of sweet fruit and toffee

Summary:

Excellent wine!  It has big flavor, just the right weight, and a long, long finish.  Of course, it's still a bit young for a Sauternes as these dessert wines from Bordeaux can cellar for many decades in the bottle.

Every so often, I like to open Sauternes at the end of a good meal.  It's delicious to sip on its own or with some light dessert or fruit.  The good ones aren't cheap, though.  This was released at $60 and goes for a bit more than that now.  Raise a glass!
